belun ring
The Belun ring serves as a wearable pulse oximeter that collects data while the wearer sleeps and transfers it to the cloud once placed on its docking station. Its design incorporates legs that ensure the sensor remains in the correct position throughout the night, preventing any rotation. This is crucial, as the optical sensor must be precisely positioned to provide reliable readings across all skin tones.
With its sleek silhouette, black color, and glossy cap inspired by gemstones, the pulse oximeter resembles a piece of jewelry rather than a medical device. While I enjoyed designing the look and shape of the ring, my proudest achievement is the parametric CAD file, which made adjusting all 10 sizes quick and efficient. It was a technical challenge, but a rewarding one when perfecting every detail for production.
This was my first major project at Studio Dott, where I was the main designer, transforming Belun's working (though not manufacturable) prototype into two fully developed generations of the ring from start to finish.
